The following applies to all Export personal effects shipments that we collect within the UK.

All shipments must be prepacked into strong doublewall cardboard boxes and clearly labelled with the consignee address and unique shipment number before we come to collect. We do not accept suitcases or bags, these are not suitable as they can rip and cannot be stacked.

Please ensure that no individual piece exceeds 30kgs.

Argos sell suitable boxes, which are available from the 'moving home section'. Catalogue number 875/2233, they are priced £19.99 for five large boxes including brown tape. Alternatively you can go to any self storage company (i.e Big Yellow, Safestore) and buy packing material, boxes etc from them.

The following items are not allowed to be sent as personal effects, and you will be breaking the law if you pack them.

Aerosol Cannisters - deodorant, Air freshners etc.                                                         Explosives - fireworks, ammunition, flares etc.                                                             Gas cylinders containing flammable, non-flammable, toxic and refrigerated liquefied gas.
Flammable liquids - paint, petrol, lighter refills, solvents, varnish etc.
Flammable solids - firelighters etc.
Substances liable to spontaneous combustion
Substances which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Oxidising materials - paint stripper, etc.
Organic peroxides - bleach, etc
Toxic substances - insecticides, weedkiller, etc.
Infectious substances - bacteria, viruses, etc.
Radioactive materials
Corrosives - car batteries, acids, mercury barometers, etc.

If you have large items like Washing Machines, Cookers, TVs, please let us know at the time of booking so that we can ensure the driver is aware of them and where possible send two people to collect large items. 

For all shipments of Personal effects to South Africa, we require a packing list detailing every individual item in each box.
